When The Parent Includes The Grandparent In A Will

Someone recently asked if a parent includes a clause in a will requesting that the grandparents remain in the child’s life in the event that death occurred while the children were young. The surviving spouse often wants to move on and thereby also cutting off the deceased parent’s parents. Will this provision automatically protect the relationship? Not necessarily, ultimately it is up to a judge in the end should the grandparents find themselves filing a petition for grandparent visitation.
